Vistara and Air India have merged to form a new airline unit, which is India's second-largest domestic airline. This integrated unit has 210 aircraft, which fly to 91 destinations and 174 routes. This has further strengthened the network and flight services of the Air India Group.

Apart from this, the Tata Group also owns Air India Express, which recently merged with AIX Connect. Air India Express is a leading line of small aircraft, which provides exclusively low-cost flight services.

As per September 2024 data, Air India Group has a domestic market share of over 29%. Air India is expanding its fleet and flight network and plans to add more aircraft in the next few months.

Pilots' joy and milestones

Air India pilots recently said in in-flight announcements that a new milestone has been achieved with the merger of Vistara. With this, Vistara's fleet will be identified with the code 'AI2'.
