New Delhi: Following light rains, the air quality in the national capital was considerably improved, and thus the CAQM Comission for Air Quality Management has lifted the pollution restrictions imposed under GRAP-IV. However, GRAP-3 will be implemented as it is in the city affected. On Thursday Delhi recorded 302 of AQI.
The curbs were introduced on Wednesday due to calm movements winds, low temperatures, and foggy conditions that all contributed to pollution settling in the region of the city, the air quality index reached 396 yesterday evening.
During the winter period the GNCTD Government implements GRAP restrictions across the NCR that subdivides the air quality into 4 levels: stage 1 (Poor 201-300), stage 2 (Very Poor 301-400), 3 Sever 401 – 450, 4 Sever plus above 450.
Restrictions Under GRAP-4 Vehicle restrictions: All nonessential truck movements into Delhi will be banned except for those delivering essential goods or rendering essential services. LNG, CNG, electric, or BS-VY compliant trucks will be excluded from the ban.
Schooling Facilitation: In the case of Classes 10 and 12, all students are exhorted to start following online lessons from now on.
Work-from-Home Regulations: Work-goers may be mandated to cut down on time spent at physical offices, such an announcement was made by the Delhi administration. Offices which are of a private, governmental or municipal nature may consider a 50% work from home scheme in order to make sure employees do not get exposed to the unhealthy air.
Construction Work: The restriction imposed on construction work during the third phase has been broadened to include linear public works facilities such as highways, roads and power transmission, in order to reduce the dust pollution these activities will cause.
Basic Needed Services: Activities of basic needed services such as health care, ambulance, and transportation of goods which are of utmost importance are free to operate and do as they please.
Mass Transit: Mass transit systems have been given a go ahead to run in the transport sector but measures such as restrictions on the use of diesel buses will be put in place in order to control fumes.
