During Rahu Kaal, which lasts for about 90 minutes, one is advised against starting new ventures, significant decision-making, or traveling as this time is dominated by Rahu, the planet responsible for confusion and unforeseen circumstances. There are three periods of time which fall into the categories of inauspicious solar days: Gulika Kaal, Rahu, and Yamaganda Kaal. Vedic astrology categorizes certain times in the day as unfavourable because the movement of planets might slow down or restrict certain activities. Examples of these are as follows:

The period of time that is influenced by Gulika is more condensed than Rahu Kaal but still prone to shadows and negative connotations and activities. While still weaker in context than Rahu Kaal, Pardhi Kaal’ focus is directed towards the prevention of any major events during this time.  

The Yama period associated with the God of death and law is significantly worse than Kaal. This period prolongs or requires additional effort to achieve success as long as we remain focused on one goal during the time set.  

Vedic astrologists tend to have an easier time than non-astrological followers as they are able to plan and make schedules whilst avoiding the times of the day deemed inauspicious and detrimental to productivity.
