Paris: Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar met with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot and they deliberated upon cooperation between both nations especially in regions such as AI, innovation, and other global affairs.

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, is in France for a three-day visit where he is also set to co-chair the AI Action Summit along with the French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. Modi is expected to have bilateral conversations with Macron and also give a speech to business delegates.

Jaishankar tweeted on X, “A pleasure meeting FM @jnbarrot in Paris this evening. Discussed our wide-ranging cooperation with a focus on AI & innovations, connectivity, and clean energy. Also I spoke about the regional and global developments.”

The post included a mention that “Our Strategic Partnership is comforting and reflects a strong convergence.” Meanwhile, Barrot said that together with India, France will write a class “year of innovation” in 2026. “With India, AI is the newest frontier of our strategic partnership. Allong my next trip to India ,we will write together a Franco-Indian year of innovation!” He tweeted.

As he stepped foot in Paris this Monday, Modi was met with a grand welcome from the Indian diaspora. “A memorable welcome in Paris! Despite the chilly weather, the Indian community made an effort to display their love this evening. I am thankful to our diaspora and proud of their achievements,” he articulated.

Per the officials, Modi is making his sixth trip to France. Along with Modi, Macron will also unveil the most recent Indian General Consulate in Marseille.
