
India has increased its aid to those impacted by the recent earthquake in Myanmar. On Sunday, another 31 tonnes of relief materials were dispatched. This shipment also includes critical supplies meant for the Indian Army’s field hospital. The relief items were sent using a C-17 Globemaster aircraft.
A senior government official confirmed the aircraft departed from Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad on Sunday morning.
Operation Brahma Delivers Humanitarian Assistance
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shared an update on social media platform X, along with several images. He stated that under “Operation Brahma,” the C-17 aircraft took 31 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Mandalay. This includes supplies for the Indian Army’s field hospital unit.
Last week, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar, resulting in over 3,000 deaths.
Food Grains and Medicines Sent to Prevent Starvation
India has also sent large quantities of food grains, in addition to clothes and medicines, to help the affected population. This effort is part of its broader relief initiative launched under the name “Operation Brahma.”
Indian Navy’s INS Gharial Delivers 442 Tonnes of Relief
According to the Indian Navy, the ship INS Gharial arrived in Yangon on Saturday morning carrying 442 tonnes of relief material. This includes 405 tonnes of rice. The Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Abhay Thakur, officially handed over the supplies to Yangon region’s Chief Minister, U Soi Thein. The materials are expected to provide substantial relief to the survivors.
