Diabetes is a disease that affects the level of sugar (glucose) in the body. This problem has become very common in today's time. Diabetes is an incurable disease that is spreading rapidly, but have you ever wondered why there is no cure for diabetes? Let us know about this from Dr. Paras Agarwal (Clinical Director and Head, Diabetes Obesity and Metabolic Disorders, Maringo Asia Hospital Gurugram).

Types of diabetes-

  • Type 1 diabetes: This is a problem related to the body's immune system. In this, the body stops producing insulin.
  •  Type 2 Diabetes: This is a lifestyle related problem, in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or is unable to use it properly.

Why is there no cure for diabetes?

  • Chronic disease: Dr. Paras Aggarwal told that diabetes is a chronic disease. This means that it can only be controlled, it cannot be completely cured.
  • Effect of genes: There can also be genetic reasons behind diabetes. If someone in the family has diabetes, then you are more likely to get it.
  • Role of lifestyle: Our irregular lifestyle, like eating junk food, lack of exercise and stress, promote diabetes.
  • Insulin dependency: Type 1 diabetes patients have to depend on insulin for life. Its treatment is not possible with medicines.

How to control

Balanced diet: Eat green vegetables, fruits, and low-sugar foods

Exercise: Exercise at least 30 minutes daily

Control your weight: Obesity is a major cause of diabetes, keep your weight balanced.

Avoid stress: Relieve stress through meditation and yoga.

It is not possible to cure diabetes, but it can be controlled. You can improve your health with proper diet, exercise and lifestyle. Instead of being afraid of diabetes, it is important to understand and manage it.
