What is norovirus disease?
Norovirus is a highly contagious disease. It causes vomiting and diarrhea. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the first case of norovirus was seen in 1968 in a school in Norwalk, Ohio. This is why the first strain of norovirus was known as the Norwalk virus.
Norovirus can cause gastroenteritis and can be spread through close contact with a person with the infection. According to the Mayo Clinic, 'Most people recover completely without treatment, however, some people, especially young children and older adults, may experience vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration.
What are the symptoms of norovirus?
Some common symptoms of norovirus can be like-

These symptoms begin to appear 2 to 48 hours after exposure and can last for about 1 to 3 days

What are the causes of norovirus?
The Cleveland Clinic says that a virus from the Caliciviridae family causes norovirus. When the virus enters our body, it causes inflammation in the stomach and intestines. This is called gastroenteritis which eventually causes other symptoms of norovirus. Norovirus infection can also occur due to these reasons-
