MUDA Scam: Lokayukta has filed a case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Karnataka. This case has been filed regarding the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam. The whole issue is about a piece of land. This land is of 3.14 acres, which is in the name of his wife Parvati. This case has come two days after a special court here ordered a Lokayukta police investigation against Siddaramaiah, in which it is alleged that his wife has been allotted premium properties by MUDA in violation of the norms.

The FIR names Siddaramaiah as the first accused, followed by his wife Parvathy, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and alleged landowner Devaraj. According to the allegations, the Mysore development body acquired a piece of land owned by Parvathy and compensated her with high-value plots. The BJP-led opposition and some activists have accused Siddaramaiah and his wife Parvathy of benefiting from this illegally compensated land deal, estimating the alleged irregularities to be worth Rs 4,000 crore.

What is the whole matter?

In fact, in August, Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot was permitted to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Earlier this month, the Karnataka High Court upheld the governor's approval. After this, the special court for criminal cases involving former and present MPs/MLAs directed the Lokayukta police in Mysore to investigate a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna.

The complaint alleges that Siddaramaiah's wife was allotted plots in a prime area of Mysore as compensation, whose property value is higher than her land acquired by MUDA. Under MUDA's 50:50 ratio scheme, Parvathy was allotted plots instead of 3.16 acres of land. However, it is also alleged that she had no legal right over the 3.16 acres of land in Kasare village in Mysore.
