Jharkhand: The movement of villagers against Naxalites and illegal businesses in Gudri, Tebo, Goilkera, Sonua and Anandpur police station areas of West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has become very aggressive. Thousands of villagers armed with arrows, spears and other traditional weapons are roaming in the forests and catching suspicious people and pronouncing death sentence in their Jan Adalat. There are reports of about 10 murders in the last ten days, but the police have not been able to recover the bodies yet. Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that a campaign is being run to recover the bodies and talks are being held with the villagers.

Suspects punished without investigation

The villagers are so aggressive that outsiders are not being allowed to enter the area. If anyone is suspected, he is caught and punished in the Jan Adalat. Even carrying mobile phones has been banned. It is suspected that two youths who recently came from Odisha were killed by considering them to be cattle smugglers. It is being told that both these youths were residents of Rairangpur, the native area of President Draupadi Murmu. Their family members have also suspected murder and have informed the police about the matter.

Villagers attack militants

The villagers' anger is also being fiercely vented on Naxalite and extremist organizations. Recently, six extremists including People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) area commander Mota Tiger were killed. It is being told that there is a conflict going on between Maoist groups and PLFI over illegal businesses like sand mining apart from cultivation of opium and cannabis in the area, due to which the situation has become more tense.

BJP leader Babulal Marandi expressed concern

BJP state president Babulal Marandi has expressed deep concern over this situation. He wrote on social media that so far 22 people have been reported missing in the area and more than 10 people have been killed. Marandi has demanded immediate intervention from Chief Minister Hemant Soren and DGP Anurag Gupta. Referring to a video, he said that this situation raises serious questions on the law and order in the state.

Increased pressure on government and administration

This action of the villagers is not only challenging the law and order, but is also creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the entire area. Experts believe that in this situation, the government and administration will have to take immediate steps. Along with convincing the villagers, concrete measures need to be taken to restore peace in the area.
