40 years after the Bhopal gas tragedy in Madhya Pradesh, the government had decided to shift the toxic waste of the Union Carbide factory to another place and burn it. Due to which, on Thursday (January 2), the waste was sent to the waste deposit unit of Pithampur Industrial Area so that it could be burnt, but people started protesting against it and blocked the roads. After which Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a high-level meeting late at night.
After this, respecting the public sentiments, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav decided not to burn Union Carbide's waste in Pithampur for the time being. Late on Friday night, he called a meeting of officials and public representatives and also announced that the government will not tolerate any harm to the public at any cost.
