London: Deobra Delon Redden, 31, attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus when he appeared in court for attempted assault in January. The video of the young man attacking the judge instantly went viral and earned him the nickname "Flying Felon".

Redden was accused of attempting to murder an elderly man. When he reached the court for the hearing, he also attacked the judge. The accused youth also abused the judge before the attack. Later, he also scuffled with the officials of the Clark County District Court.
Redden jumped on Judge Mary Holthus as she was about to sentence him for an earlier crime.

The footage shows Redden continuing to fight while Marshall, court staff and lawyers try to restrain him. The attack terrified the judge and Marshall had to be treated in hospital.

On Tuesday, a second judge, Susan Johnson, convicted the accused youth on six of the seven charges. Judge Johnson said, "I find you guilty and mentally ill for the following crimes."
The judge said that his act was more than an attack on Judge Holthus, it was an "attack on the judiciary". The judge rejected Redden's lawyer's suggestion that he should serve the jail sentence simultaneously. He was also ordered to pay $61,318.41 i.e. about Rs 51 lakh as "compensation to the victim". Redden argued to the court on Tuesday that he is "not a bad man, not an evil person".
