The dominating orthodox villages residing in Italy, Southern Region, has revealed astonishing orders that prohibits its inhabitant from falling sick. The decision inflicted was by Antonio Torchia, currently holding the position of a mayor in a small south Italian region of Belcastro and believes his statement regarding sickness will aid in promoting his region towards being healthy.

The direct order given by Antonio greatly raised eyebrows, as he stated that the people of the Belcastro Village should refrain from contracting any illness, analyse possible set of risk that could aggravate their health and promptly move towards a medical institution in case of such emergencies.

A great set of more statements followed his announcement where he directly said that "stretching the truth is never a good idea", in an order he issued he advised people against going out too often, stated that playing sports or any sort of vigorous exercise should be avoided so that unnecessary fatigue is prevented.

As a joke Antonio further went ahead by saying how the impractical ideology aids in building the people of his region a healthy structure, he asserted how these set of quotes highlight the faulty of the current health care system.

New measures that were proposed are still under duration on how precisely would they be able to tackle the issue.

Poor Health Infrastructure in Belcastro

Mayor of Belcastro said that the nearest Accident and Emergency department is over 45 km away and nearly half of the total population of about 1,200 are over the age of 65. Belcastro, for context, is located in the most impoverished area of Italy known as southern Calabria.

Torchia shared his experience with Italian TV to highlight how hard it is for anyone to feel “safe knowing A&E is the only option if they need assistance.”

Torchia also mentioned the time constraint and the slow speed limit of the A&E as some of the reasons why he might think the roads themselves are a greater threat, than the illnesses people are afflicted with, which in the case of Belcastro even aggravated the health conditions of the under aged population.

The long queue that ensued due to the under-meet population of A&E made it evident why there was a deficit of medical beds available in the sardonic region, and as it turns out this region had been severely affected by the mafia along with political bounderies for more than 15 years.

Over the past decade, there has been a drastic decline in the number of hospitals in the region, with more than half of the population of Calabria experiencing the need to travel outside the region to get qualified medical care due to the closing of more than eighteen hospitals since the year 2009.

Residents of Belcastro backed mayor Torchia, saying that he's "done well to highlight the issue", as the action set out to "move minds".

As per BBC, one man remarked, “He raises an important issue in a very sensitive manner with what appears to be an inappropriate decree.”
