Prashant Kishor Detained: Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor was arrested today, 6 December, during a hunger strike demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. He has now been sent to judicial custody after refusing to fill a conditional bail bond.

According to a PTI report, Bihar Police arrested Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishore early Monday morning, who was on an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Police personnel removed him and his supporters from the protest site. According to Kishore's supporters, the police took him to Patna AIIMS for medical examination.

What did the police say?

Speaking to PTI, Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh said, “Yes, the police arrested Kishore and his supporters who were sitting on a dharna at Gandhi Maidan on Monday morning. They will now be produced in court. Their dharna was illegal, he said, adding that they were protesting near a prohibited place.”

The Jan Suraj founder has been on a hunger strike since Thursday demanding the cancellation of the integrated 70th combined (preliminary) competitive examination conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13. The protest, which began with allegations of irregularities in the BPSC exam, has intensified after the government announced a re-examination, which Kishore claimed was an admission of the errors that had occurred.
