Pakistani beggars in Saudi Arabia: India's neighbouring country Pakistan is not just a problem for India. This country has now become a cause of trouble for the Gulf countries as well. Many Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia are troubled by the beggars coming from Pakistan. Saudi, troubled by the increasing number of beggars coming from Pakistan, has also issued a warning to the Pakistani government. Saudi has said in a strict tone that if the beggars coming from Pakistan are not stopped, then serious consequences will have to be faced.
Pakistan government in action after rebuke
After Saudi Arabia's rebuke, the Pakistani government has put more than 4000 people in a no-fly zone. These are the people who go to Saudi and Gulf countries on the pretext of Hajj or work and make begging their business.
After Saudi's strict message, Pakistan's Home Affairs Minister gave clarification to Saudi Arabia's Deputy Interior Minister Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al Dawood.
The Pakistani Home Minister told the Saudi minister that strict action has been taken against the mafia syndicate which sends beggars to Arab countries in an organised manner in Pakistan.
90 percent of beggars in Gulf countries are from Pakistan
The poor economic condition of Pakistan can be judged from the fact that most of the beggars in the Gulf countries are from Pakistan. According to a report by Dawn, 90 percent of the beggars arrested abroad are from Pakistan.
They go to Saudi on the pretext of Hajj
Beggars use various tricks to escape from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia. In September this year, 16 beggars were arrested in the guise of pilgrims while trying to travel to Saudi Arabia.
Troubled by the increasing number of beggars, Saudi authorities have asked Pakistan to take immediate action to stop this trend. They have also warned that failure to do so could create problems for legitimate Pakistani Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.
