
Paris: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the French capital, Paris, from where he is to co-chair the expected AI Action Summit along with French President Emmanuel Macron, which gives an important seat to India in helping make and shape the rules for the next frontier technologies.
The invite that France extended to India for a co-chairing position at the AI Summit is viewed as a bearing of New Delhi’s AI strategy, and its growing prominence in the new and emerging technologies apparently does not concern China which is already having a lion's share of this disruptive technology.
The decisionmadeb y Paris indicates the relevance andshared India's values and Modi government’s commitment toward using the technology to transform the nation.
Leaders and tech CEOs from around the world will convene at the AI Action Summit to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence and its focus on innovation and ethical use. As reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Modi’s visit will also highlight the interactions and bilateral relations with President Macron.
The Ministry of External Affairs, MEA, has stated that “The Prime Minister will have a conversation with President Macron around which several important steps will be taken to boost further the India France strategic partnership.” Just before the departure, PM Modi also shared key highlights of his visit which are set to improve India’s International relations while putting focus on vital international cooperation.
After President Macron invited me, I will be in France from February 10 to 12. I am looking forward to being in Paris to co-chair the AI Action Summit, which is a very important gathering of world leaders and global tech CEOs. There, we will collaborate on the development of Artificial Intelligence technology and we will also make sure that the technology works for the good of the people in a safe and trustworthy manner, he said in a statement.
Modi stresses bilateral ties
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with a hug from French President Emmanuel Macron during a welcome dinner preceding the co-chairs AI summit in Paris. “Delighted to meet my friend, President Macron in Paris,” Modi wrote on X on Monday.
During dinner, the Prime Minister also met U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who is also attending the AI Summit in France. The Prime Minister’s Office posted an update on X saying, “PM @narendramodi interacts with President @EmmanuelMacron and USA @VP @JDVance in Paris.”
The Prime Minister mentioned the visit's bilateral aspect too. “The discussions with President Macron will allow us to assess the progress made under the 2047 Horizon Roadmap, a comprehensive plan to deepen the India-France strategic partnership,” PM Modi noted.
Modi and Macron will also continue their discussions both in restricted format and in the delegation format and will address the India France CEO’s Forum.
On the bilateral segment of his visit, the Prime Minister in his departure statement said that this will be an opportunity to review the progress on the 2047 Horizon roadmap for the India France strategic partnership with “my friend” President Macron.
As Modi said, “We will also travel to the historic city of Marseille, where I will inaugurate India’s first consulate in France. Besides that, I am also looking forward to touring the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project which seeks to use fusion energy for the benefit of mankind and which India is a partner, there’s a need for it.”
During his trip, PM Modi will also visit the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille to honor the Indian soldiers who fought in the World Wars. This marks India’s unbroken relationship with France.

The dreary temperature did not stop the Indian people from showing their love, 'Modi' is well justified. It is deeply touching and I am proud of many Indian accomplishments,” said Mr PM.
