Lebanon Pager Attack: Israel has made a big disclosure about the deadly pager attack in Lebanon. This attack took place on the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu said on Sunday that he had approved the pager attack on the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in September, in which about 40 people were killed and about 3,000 were injured.
Israeli Prime Minister's spokesman Omar Dostiari told AFP, 'Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that he has given the green signal to the pager operation in Lebanon.' Netanyahu has publicly acknowledged for the first time about Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Lebanon filed a complaint against Israel.
This disclosure comes at a time when a few days ago Lebanon lodged a complaint with the United Nations against Tel Aviv in connection with the pager attacks. In September, Israel was blamed for remote-controlled explosions on pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members. Israel had not yet confirmed or denied its involvement.
Lebanon's Labor Minister Mustafa Bayram and other officials told the AP they traveled to Geneva and filed a formal complaint against Israel with the International Labor Organization, a United Nations agency that brings together governments, businesses, and workers.
Explosives were planted in the pager.
Analysts told AFP that explosives were fitted into the pagers before they were sent to Hezbollah. A security official said initial findings from a Lebanese investigation showed the pagers were fitted with bombs. The New York Times reported that the pagers that exploded were made by Hungary-based BAC Consulting on behalf of Taiwanese manufacturer Gold Apollo.
War broke out after attacks on Israel.
It quoted intelligence officials as saying that the BAC was part of an Israeli front. Hezbollah had begun launching low-intensity attacks on Israel in support of Hamas after its ally Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered the Gaza War.
Attacks have intensified since war broke out in Lebanon in late September. Israel intensified its air campaign against Hezbollah and later sent ground troops into southern Lebanon.
