After the discovery of an ancient stepwell and tunnel in Sambhal district of UP, one revelation after another is being made. These discoveries have excited history lovers and researchers. The team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started digging the stepwell of Prithviraj Chauhan period located in Laxmanganj. Some structures have been found inside this stepwell, which are believed to be related to the freedom struggle of 1857.

According to the information, the tomb of the Parrot-Maina, pottery, bricks, and stone artifacts have also been found in the excavation. The 'Rani ki Bawdi' found in Sambhal is a beautiful and grand structure, which includes 12 rooms along with tunnels and a well. Statues of Ganesha and Gauri-Parvati have also been found during the excavation. These discoveries present an excellent example of Indian architecture and water management system.
What are the revelations so far regarding the excavation?
It is being told that many historical remains have been found during the excavation, including bricks with swastika inscribed on them, Ganesha idol, and old artifacts. Also, the administration has opened an old Shiva temple which was closed for 46 years. According to the local people, this temple was closed for a long time and it was discovered during the excavation. The government has taken prompt action for the preservation and development of these structures.
There is a plan to develop Sambhal
Let us tell you that a plan is being made to develop Sambhal as a major tourist destination. The District Magistrate here said that more than 200 places will be preserved here, where people will be able to visit. Preparations are being made to attract tourists from the country and abroad to see these structures.
