Security forces in Madhya Pradesh have achieved a significant breakthrough in their anti-Naxal operations. In a fierce encounter between the state’s elite Hawk Force and Naxal insurgents in Balaghat, three female Naxals were neutralized. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Intense Gunfight in the Forests
According to Bastar police officials, the encounter erupted on Sunday morning in the dense forest region. The security forces engaged the Naxals in a prolonged firefight, resulting in the elimination of 12 Naxals in the National Park area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Unfortunately, in the line of duty, two soldiers were martyred, while two others sustained injuries.
The security operation is still ongoing as forces continue their search for remaining insurgents. Authorities are expecting more updates as they comb through the affected areas.
Hawk Force and Local Police Teams Led the Operation
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vijay Dabar shared that the Hawk Force, a special anti-Naxal unit of the Madhya Pradesh Police, along with local police teams, spearheaded the operation. The encounter took place in a forest area near the Chhattisgarh border, approximately 90 km from the district headquarters. Further details are being gathered as the operation unfolds.
Weapons and Supplies Recovered from the Naxals
An official statement confirmed that security personnel recovered significant arms and essential supplies from the neutralized Naxals. Among the recovered weapons were:
- One INSAS rifle
- One self-loading rifle (SLR)
- One .303 rifle
In addition to these weapons, several daily-use items were also seized from the site.
Some Naxals Escaped, Search Operations Intensified
Although three female Naxals were killed, reports suggest that some insurgents managed to flee despite being injured. In response, the authorities have deployed 12 police teams to track down and capture the fleeing militants. The search operation is being conducted across multiple forested regions to ensure no Naxal insurgent escapes.
With this successful operation, the security forces have struck a major blow to Naxal activities in the region. However, the battle against insurgency continues as forces remain vigilant in their pursuit of peace and security.
