The CBI captured a man today who has been a fugitive for over seven years. The man was found guilty of murder and subsequently attempted to flee to Bengaluru where he got arrested. The man, who goes by the name of Puran Bahadur Rai, was charged with murder in Darjeeling back in 2010, “The Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL)” had their president killed while he was in a public setting. His death was very well publicized and resulted in an FIR that was later registered with the central government by the police in Sadar, Darjeeling.

Puran was believed to have moved to Bengaluru to escape the legal prosecution that was eventually placed against him. Over the years, his diehard belief that he would not get charged became true as he regularly missed out on trial preliminaries without any consequences. The CBI now plans on charging him for completely ignoring the system as well for other legal infractions that stem from his original case. On November 20th, additional warrants were put forth that stem away from the prosecution that was started on him on April 3, 2017.’

As he stated, the federal organization was able to apprehend the fleeing suspect due to a combination of collaborative endeavor alongside another effort, and a variety of technical inputs.
