
Srinagar: Yawar Reshi from Pulwama district achieved feats all over Jammu and Kashmir after completing a solo 100-km run on the Jammu-Kashmir National Highway on a bid to encourage the youth to participate in games and sports.
The 20-year-old athlete says he organized the initiative to promote good health and to raise health awareness among the youth. He stated, “Youngsters must involve themselves in sports and athletics to stay fit and contribute to the nation building.”
Coming from the Ratnipora village in Pulwama, Yawar began his unusual journey at 8 am from the Qazigund area in Kulgam district. He runs towards Panthachowk which lies on the foothills of the summer capital, Srinagar, and finishes the race at Panthachowk at around 4.30 pm.
Along with his undergraduate major in social sciences at, Government Degree College Pulwama, Yawar wants to be an athlete while studying.
Being a son of local baker, Yawar participates in both college and local level competitions and intends to make it big in the national and international sports arena. He puts it vividly, “I will strive to become a good human as well as a sportsman and hope that my efforts will bear fruit in the sports field.”
Yawar claims he is going to continue with his studies while also trying to achieve his dream of becoming an athlete. His family, friends, and people in the community commend the effort he presented today. He also gave indications of astonishing achievement delight.
”I am happy that he completed this run successfully. My confidence in him has always with him not using tobacco, drugs, and other vices,” his mother says as she meets her son and puts a garland around his neck.
