Washington, Jan 16 (PTI) Joe Biden has issued a warning ahead of leaving office regarding the ultra-rich “oligarchs” in America as he “gracefully” submits to President Trump, these people are a danger for democracy.
As he was bidding farewell to the American people, Biden also proposed that the Constitution be changed in a way that makes it clear that neither a past, present or future president is above the Constitution and can be charged with a crime, which is directed towards the 78-year-old Trump.
In July of last year, the Supreme Court ruled that the Presidents in America do not get prosecuted or charged for “any actions” done while in office. This court ruling was due to the Justice Department case against Trump and his attempts to change the results of the 2020 elections.
On January 20, Donald trump will be inaugurated as the president after winning the elections and bringing an end to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign bids for the presidency.
Biden has confirmed that he felt the need to alert and prepare the nation regarding possible threats that concern him.
He stated, “That’s a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people.”
There is a high level of risk if their power is not kept in check. “They are now an oligarchy. Oligarchs with great riches, power, and influence are forming in this country. No longer are these just being given to certain people or big businesses. This overwhelms the very ideas of democracy, civil liberties, and equality,” said Joe Biden.
Joe Biden’s words were also unfriendly when mentioning Elon Musk of Tesla, saying these tech billionaires are becoming too powerful and we can only imagine what role he will play in Donald Trump’s second presidency.
“So these yawning gaps we can see across America, and we already have done it,” said the president while sitting behind the resolute desk in the Oval Room.
Also in the room were First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Second Gentlemen Dough Emhoff, Hunter Biden….and several other high-ranking members of the President’s administration.
“Here’s the problem, Jill, right before he said that, Biden waved to a grandchild and you said Joe, you look great,”. Strong social media companies, President Biden said there also may be a rise of the “tech military industrial complex” he said, “just like president Dwight D. Eisenhower warned against in a 1961 farewell address, about military-industrial complexes.”
"I share worries about the growing threats of a tech industrial complex, which poses real risks for this country," Biden stated. In a speech that lasted 17 minutes, he remarked, “Americans are suffocated by a blizzard of misinformation and disinformation, allowing for power to be manipulated,” referring to Mark Zuckerberg's announcement that his business Meta would cease misinformation fact-checking on social media sites including Facebook.
"The media is on the verge of collapse: the free press, editors, and fact checking is a thing of the past. All of this is made possible by social media," he said.
"When politics and corporations lie, the truth dies, and the American society has few resources left. The American society should start holding these businesses responsible," he said.
"The abuse of power depicted including abuse of power towards our children, families and democracy commanded the need of accountability for these social platforms as the President stated,” said the president.
Artificial intelligence could be a future threat and unless there are appropriate regulations surrounding it, human rights, way of life, privacy, and work patterns might all have to undergo a change claimed Giuliani.
This country must be the frontrunner in advancing artificial intelligence. America must be that country not China, he added.
Biden does not shy away from discussing the major objectives reached during his presidency in the last four years.
“People have to recognize that all that we have done together has to be fully implemented, and this will take some time, but the seeds are planted,” he said.
Biden said that there are deeply entrenched forces who wish to use their unbridled power to rescind the policies which his administration has instituted.
“This is a threat in which we must not yield and compromise about the future, about the future of our children and our grandchildren. We have to go forward and do it more quickly. We have no time to lose,” he said.
In his speech, Biden also speaks on the tasks and reforms that have to be accomplished and implemented in the months and years that lay ahead.
”Now, the sad thing about it is that while our children are alive, in the years that are coming, children who are now babies, some innocent soldiers, some own combatants, and civilians will have to deal with the consequences of today’s actions, and they will be tremendous. That will be left to the president, the presidency, the congress, the courts, the free press, and the American people. We must change how we tax in America. And you don’t need that money goes dark, that is the money that spends hid bases behind too many political campaign contributions,” said he.
“We have to sever politics from it as far as possible. We have to pass into law an 18 year time frame, a time frame for the strongest ethics reforms for our Supreme Court. We need to prohibit constitutional members of ... Congress from engaging in Congress trading of stocks,” said the member.
But we have to amend the Constitution to put it clear that no President is above the law on crimes he or she will commit while in office. … in a democracy, there is another danger, the concentration of power and wealth. It - - weakens the feeling of oneness and common aim,” Biden argued.
"It breeds suspicion and fracture. Engaging in our democracy is tiresome and even discouraging and people do not think that they stand a chance. So we need to remain active in the democratic process,” Biden remarked.
Biden has infused the nation with motivation as he leaves his speech by saying: “I still believe in the idea for which America stands.” “With you, the American people, I already spent 50 years in public service, I owe you my promise: I still believe in the idea for which this country is,” he added.
