The United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned the burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip by Israeli soldiers. Patients and medical staff had to be evacuated due to the fire in the hospital. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, the UAE rejected this act and called it a disgusting violation of international humanitarian law and part of a systematic attack on Gaza's already weak healthcare system. The ministry called for an immediate halt to the violence. Along with this, it stressed the importance of protecting citizens and civilian institutions.
The current situation is a dire humanitarian emergency
The statement said that the current situation represents a catastrophic humanitarian emergency that requires urgent attention. The UAE also urged the international community to intensify efforts to prevent further deterioration in the occupied Palestinian territory, as well as to support all initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace.
The ambulance and warehouse completely burnt down
Gaza-based health officials said on Friday that Kamal Adwan Hospital was facing a stifling siege as its operations and surgical departments, laboratory, maintenance units, ambulance units and warehouses were completely burned down.
Before the Israeli attack, Kamal Adwan Hospital, the largest medical facility in northern Gaza, was housing about 350 people, including 75 injured patients and their attendants. The Israeli army has blockaded the hospital for more than two months as part of its military operations in northern Gaza, claiming that the hospital is a stronghold and hideout of terrorists.
Jordan called it a heinous war crime
Jordan's Foreign Ministry called the raid a heinous war crime that reflects Israel's crimes in Gaza and a gross violation of international law and humanitarian law. It held Israel responsible for the safety of patients and medical staff and urged the international community to pressure Israel to stop attacks on civilians in Gaza and end the destruction caused by Israeli aggression.
Saudi also strongly condemned it
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned Israel's action at the hospital. They called it a violation of international law, international humanitarian law and basic humanitarian and ethical standards.
