The family of Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian-American student, has formally requested that Dominican Republic authorities declare their daughter dead, as reported by US media. Konanki, who went missing on March 6 while vacationing at the Riu Republic resort in Punta Cana, has not been found despite extensive search efforts by local and US federal law enforcement agencies.

No Suspicious Foul Play Involved, Family Says

Konanki’s family sent a letter to authorities stating that they believe no foul play was involved in their daughter’s disappearance. The family expressed their trust in the ongoing investigation. According to reports from the New York Post, they emphasized that Rebe, the last person to see Konanki alive, has cooperated fully with investigators. Rebe has been questioned but is not considered a suspect in the case.

Investigation and Interrogation of Last Known Individual with Konanki

As part of the investigation, Dominican authorities have seized the passport of Joshua Steven Reebe, the man who was last seen with Konanki. He was interrogated for over six hours by Dominican Republic Attorney General Yenny Berenice Reynoso. According to CNN News, Reebe has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and further interrogations are expected to continue under the guidance of local prosecutors.

The Ongoing Search Effort

Despite the ongoing investigation, Konanki’s body has not been recovered. Both Dominican authorities and US federal agencies are working together to resolve the case, but there have been no new developments regarding the whereabouts of the missing student.
