At the United Nations, Pakistan once again attempted to internationalize the Kashmir issue, prompting a sharp response from India. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, firmly rejected Pakistan’s statements, calling them baseless and misleading.
India’s Firm Stand on Jammu & Kashmir
Ambassador Harish reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and always will be. He also stated that Pakistan is illegally occupying certain parts of the region, commonly referred to as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and must immediately vacate these areas.
“Pakistan has always made false claims regarding Jammu and Kashmir,” Harish asserted during the session.
Pakistan's Comments Deemed Inappropriate
India's strong statement came after Pakistan’s representative made inappropriate remarks concerning Jammu and Kashmir. In response, Ambassador Harish emphasized that repeating falsehoods neither strengthens illegal claims nor legitimizes cross-border terrorism.
India Advises Pakistan to Refrain from Misusing UN Platform
India advised Pakistan not to use the United Nations forum to push what it called a narrow and divisive agenda. Harish suggested that Pakistan focus on resolving its internal challenges rather than deflecting international attention.
“We advise Pakistan not to divert the attention of this forum to pursue its divisive objectives,” Harish said.
India Reaffirms Commitment to Afghanistan’s Stability
In a related address at the United Nations Security Council, Ambassador Harish highlighted India’s historical and cultural ties with Afghanistan. He affirmed that India remains committed to regional and international efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Harish said that India’s current engagement with Afghanistan is grounded in the longstanding relationship between the people of both nations.
