SACRAMENTO, CA: A US court has sentenced Sai Kumar Kurremula, a 31-year-old Indian man, to 35 years imprisonment after he was convicted for the sexual abuse of multiple children. He is said to have masqueraded as a youth on social media platforms and solicited friendships with minors. After striking friendships, he employed methods to gain their confidence. It is said that Kurremula would demand his and other children’s images depicting pornographic material and used to threaten them when they refused to comply.
“In this case, Kurremula is sentenced to lifetime supervised release,” claimed US Attorney Robert Troster.
In a statement, Robert Troster claimed that Kurremula has received the sentence for sexual abuse of three minors and for the possession of child pornography. He used to reside in Edmond, Oklahoma to which he relocated with an immigrant visa. In a ruling delivered last week, Judge Charles Goodwin of the US District Court stated that “these surveillance measures will be in place for life, even after the completion of his prison term”.
Kurremula admitted to the charges leveled against him.
Goodwin commented that the wounds inflicted by Kurremula on the victims and their families are marks that are permanent and will be haunting them for the rest of their lifetime.
In the trial process, Kurremula admitted to making threats against a child, stating that he would go to her home and share indecent images of her with her family. He additionally threatened another child that he would release vulgar photographs and videos of her.
