Woman BJP MP Allegation on Rahul Gandhi: BJP MP from Nagaland Phangnon Konyak on Thursday (19 December) lodged a complaint with the Rajya Sabha Chairman against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. She accused him of misbehaving with her and causing inconvenience by standing too close to her during a protest outside Parliament.
Phangnon Konyak said, 'I was standing right below the staircase with a placard in my hand. The security personnel had cordoned off the entry gate and made a way for the entry of honourable MPs from other parties. Suddenly, the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi came and stood in front of me despite other party members making way for him.'
accused of shouting
The MP said, 'He abused me in a loud voice and his physical proximity was so close to me that being a woman member, I felt extremely uncomfortable.' Konyak further said in her complaint that she 'separated with a heavy heart and condemning my democratic rights but felt that no Member of Parliament should behave in this manner.'
Demand for protection from the Chairman
She further said that as a woman and a member of the ST community, her dignity and self-respect have been deeply hurt by Gandhi's actions and she has sought protection from the Rajya Sabha Chairman. She made the same allegations while speaking in the Rajya Sabha.
She further added, 'It's not that I can't defend myself, but still, it's very indecent, so I didn't retaliate. However, his actions today were really bad, and I was disappointed. No female member, especially an ST female member like me, should be made to feel this way.'
