Hurtful Pee Causes: Many of us feel pain or a burning sensation at the end of urination. Although we ignore it thinking it is common, it can be due to serious problems. Pain at the end of urination can be due to dysuria. However, there can be other problems behind it. Let us know about the causes of pain at the end of urination.
- Urinary tract infection (UTI): This is the most common cause of painful urination in both men and women. It occurs when bacteria, particularly E. coli, invade the urinary tract. Symptoms include a burning sensation when urinating, a frequent need to urinate, and cloudy or foul-smelling urine.
- Bladder infection (cystitis): Inflammation of the bladder due to a UTI or a chemical burn from soaps or hygiene products can cause discomfort. Another chronic disease, interstitial cystitis, can also have similar symptoms without any infection.
- Kidney and bladder stones: Minerals can accumulate in the urinary tract and cause sharp, stabbing pain, especially when passing through the urinary tract during urination. Sometimes blood may appear in the urine, or there may be sharp pain in the back or side.
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs): STIs such as gonorrhea or chlamydia can cause inflammation of the urethra, resulting in pain during urination.
- Urethritis: Inflammation of the urethra, often due to infection or irritation, can cause a burning sensation, especially at the end of urination.
- Interstitial cystitis: Also known as painful bladder syndrome, this chronic condition causes discomfort in the bladder and urethra, especially during urination.
- Prostatitis: In men, inflammation of the prostate gland can cause pain during or after urination.
- Vaginal irritation or infection: In women, vaginal infections such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis can cause external discomfort during urination.
- Pelvic floor dysfunction: Tight or weak pelvic muscles can obstruct urination, causing pain or pressure.
- Dehydration: Not consuming the right amount of fluids can result in excessively concentrated urine, which may cause discomfort.
- Bladder cancer: Although rare, this is a condition that can cause pain while urinating along with blood in the urine often.
