New Delhi: Results from the counting of the polling in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 has been shocking - Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi of the Aam Admi Party are trailing behind many BJP candidates, along with many other prominent AAP leaders.

In the New Delhi constituency, the party head, Kejriwal, has lost to BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh, which has placed considerable AAP in a disadvantageous position.

Atishi, the current CM, also seems to be losing to Ramesh Bidhuri from the BJP in Kalkaji. In addition, money laundering accused AAP leader Satyendra Jain is losing in Shakur Basti and Avadh Ojha, the newest member of the AAP, is losing in Patparganj, having replaced the previous district of Jungpura. This district was won in the Mouthing elections of 2013, 2015 and 2020 and is frequently debated about the location of Patparganj.

Likewise, other known faces of AAP like Somnath Bharti, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Rakhi Birla and Brahum Singh Tanwar are also losing their respective constituencies. These locations are including Shakur Basti, Patparganj, Malviya Nagar, Greater Kailash, Madipur and the more southern area of Chattarpur.

Ojha trails behind BJP’s Ravinder Negi while Anil Chaudhary of Congress is in third. The constituency of Patparganj was speculated to be an AAP stronghold given Manish Sisodia’s reputation as a first rate education reformist. They also show that the party in power is likely to face tough competition after having suffered defeat in the recent assembly elections and taking a whopping 67 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020.

Prior to the results, Chief Minister Atishi voiced a lot of confidence toward an AAP victory stating, “In the struggle between the good and the evil we emerge victorious”, while Bharadwaj suggested that the AAP is able to secure over 40-45 seats. Now, the true question is, can AAP combat the initial challenges and sustain its power, or will the BJP capture the national capital?

Polling for the Delhi elections took place on Wednesday, February 5th, and the exit polls have given an estimation of an astounding win for the BJP. By some estimates, it has been over two decades since the party has held power in Delhi.

Nonetheless, the AAP stood by its reasoning to ignore the exit polls, claiming that they had the requisite confidence to form the government for yet another term. Gopal Rai, a Party leader, argued these claims and made it clear that AAP is banking on winning not less than fifty.

Slowly, the suspense lifts as the counting continues, will AAP hold or will the BJP make history in Delhi. For now, it looks like the BJP is ahead in the early trends. (as reported by news agencies)
