A rare tree species, Dahiman, found in the forests of Chhattisgarh, is considered no less than a Sanjeevani herb. The benefits of this tree are so remarkable that they may seem fictional, but they are scientifically supported. Dahiman is known to provide relief for cancer, blood pressure, jaundice, and mental illnesses. Additionally, it is believed that consuming its fruit juice can neutralize alcohol intoxication within two minutes.

One fascinating characteristic of this tree is its leaves, which have a unique property—if something is written on them, the letters appear clearly. It is said that in ancient times, spies used these leaves to exchange secret messages.

Medicinal Benefits Explained by Ayurveda Expert

Ayurveda expert Pandit Nagendra Narayan Sharma shared with Local 18 that Dahiman is a highly beneficial medicinal tree found in this region. Many people even wear its wood as a protective amulet around their necks. According to Ayurveda, various remedies using this tree have been documented, particularly for treating blood pressure issues, jaundice, and mental health conditions.

One of the most astonishing benefits of Dahiman is its ability to eliminate alcohol intoxication within minutes when its fruit juice is consumed. However, due to lack of awareness and conservation efforts, the tree is now on the verge of extinction. There are only a few such miraculous medicinal trees left today.

Once Widely Used, Now Endangered

Pandit Nagendra Narayan Sharma further explained that Dahiman trees are primarily found in the forests of Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Historically, it was extensively used in Ayurvedic treatments. Many renowned Vaidyas and Ayurvedacharyas used Dahiman for treating several incurable diseases.

The tree contains powerful bioactive compounds that contribute to healing various serious illnesses. Due to its widespread exploitation, the species has significantly declined. While people have benefited from it for generations, lack of conservation efforts has pushed it into the category of endangered species.
