
New Delhi: There was a bomb threat to several schools located in Noida and Delhi on Friday morning. The police have initiated an inquiry and are following the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP).
An email detailing the bomb threat was communicated to the principal Ahlcon International School located in Mayur Vihar-1, New Delhi. According to the police, the notification was received around 6:40 am and it was already disseminated to the control room. Subsequently, the East District bomb disposal squad was called into action. Station Head Officer (SHO) Pandav Nagar with other staff members went to the school. They were able to make it in a timely manner.
The school’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) patrolled the school, but nothing was suspicious. The Principal also sent an email to the students’ parents informing them that due to the threat, the campus would be closed on the particular day.
A guardian of one of the students at the school told ANI, “The school administration is saying that the school is closed today and the classes will happen on the internet. They said nothing, but I feel it is due to the bomb threat.”
Noida’s Shiv Nadar School also received a threat. After the threat, police of Noida, bomb disposal squad, fire tenders, dog squad, and BDDS team attended the location and did a search. “Seniors are already present on the scene. The cyber team is working on the email. The public is asked to refrain from spreading rumors and to exercise calm,” as told by the police of Noida.
Also St. Stephen’s College in North Delhi was one of the educational places which got the threat. The North District's Deputy Commissioner of Police said that, “Today at 07:42 AM a bomb threat via email was received by the college. We have received this information, and our BDT team is on the ground doing a check,” the police stated.
Earlier, officials said that a minor has been arrested in relation to a threat mail sent to over 400 schools which was classified as a hoax bombing. The juvenile’s Criminal investigation has been filed after patching sophisticated cyber techniques. The juvenile, a private school pupil, did not go to his school for a few days and therefore came to the attention of Cyber cell of South District.
The juvenile’s forensics examination revealed the presence of a laptop and two mobile phones which were believed to have been used to perpetrate the crime. It was found that, through forensic analysis, his devices contained multiple pieces of evidence that connected him to the emails that were sent to many schools.
The police further states that although he tried his best to hide his tracks by using fake names, he was caught by modern technology. According to police, he had in most likelihood uncovered on more than 400 schools in Delhi and in addition, blamed much of the past attacks on threatening mails on the explosive devices.
So much unnecessary panic has been caused by the child and on 8th January 2025, nearly two dozen schools across Delhi had received emails of an ominous nature stating that there were bombs present in the schools, which led to the children anxious, schools having to be closed, and life to be suspended.
