The Telangana High Court has given a big relief to KT Rama Rao (KTR), son of former Chief Minister KCR. In fact, the court has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials not to arrest him till December 30 in the Formula-E race case.
Telangana High Court judge N. Shravan Kumar Venkat was hearing a petition filed by BRS leader Rama Rao seeking quashing of the FIR filed against him by the ACB.
Anti Corruption Bureau filed a case
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday registered an FIR against Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president and MLA Rama Rao over alleged irregularities in the organisation of Formula-E race in Hyderabad during the previous state government. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma had recently given permission to register a case against Rama Rao on the issue.
KTR accused of paying Rs 55 crore
Earlier this year, the government had sought an explanation from a senior bureaucrat for entering into an agreement related to a Formula-E race and paying Rs 55 crore without the approval of the competent authority. Formula-E had accused the new Telangana government of violating the contract while announcing the cancellation of the Hyderabad E-Prix.
BRS leader denies the allegations
However, KCR's son has strongly denied these allegations. He denied the allegations and said that all the transactions were done in a transparent manner and it was the Congress government that was corrupt. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate is preparing to register a case against KTR under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
