Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: After the announcement of the date of voting on 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand, the election temperature in the state has increased. On one hand, while the Bharatiya Janata Party released its first list of 66 candidates including Champai Soren on Saturday, on the other hand, Rahul Gandhi addressed a program in Jharkhand. During this, Rahul Gandhi fiercely attacked the BJP and accused the party of controlling the Election Commission, bureaucracy, and central investigative agencies. He said that no force can stop the caste-based census and removal of the 50 percent limit on the reservation.
PM Modi and Shah were also attacked.
According to a PTI report, while addressing the 'Samvidhan Samman Sammelan' here ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections, Gandhi alleged, "The Constitution is being constantly attacked from all sides, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and it needs to be protected." The former Congress president launched a scathing attack on the BJP, alleging that it is "controlling the Election Commission, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax Department, bureaucracy and judiciary."
Congress fought the Lok Sabha elections without money.
"The BJP also controls funds and institutions, but we have integrity. The Congress fought the Lok Sabha elections without money," he claimed. Gandhi said caste-based census is a means to get a social "X-ray" but Prime Minister Modi is opposing it. "However, without the support of the media and judiciary, no force can stop caste-based census and removal of 50 percent cap on the reservation," he said.
This is the first visit to Jharkhand.
This is Gandhi's first visit to Jharkhand after the announcement of the assembly election schedule. Assembly elections in the state will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20 and the counting of votes will take place on November 23. Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the 'India' alliance will fight the upcoming assembly elections together and the Congress and JMM will field their candidates on 70 out of 81 seats. He said that talks are going on with alliance partners Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Left parties for seat-sharing for the remaining 11 seats.
