New Delhi: After winning significantly during the doubledelhi assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party is yet to declare the head of the government. Even two days after the results, a BJP Legislative Party meeting has not yet convened.

The president of the Delhi Chief of the party Virender Sachdeva was on Monday told about the CM announcement and his stance was that the central leadership has to take that. However, A lot of party members are discussing the new Delhi CM internally.

In an internal party meeting, BJP national president JP Nadda discussed with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday the Delhi cabinet posts which include the Chief Minister. According to some BJP sources, the math is working on caste and gender for the final selection of the Chief Minister. There are in total seven cabinet posts at the top level of the delhi government.

As the Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, political analysts believe that the Chief Minister will be from Purvanchal. Union Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the party’s workers meet at the party headquarters on Saturday, pronounced his candidature from Purvanchal. With respect to this, Manoj Tiwari’s name was doing the rounds but the party has clarified that only the elected MLAs will be given a chance in the government that is to be set up in Delhi. Also in the mix are Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma and Gonda MLA Ajay Mahawar who are also said to be frontrunners for the CM position.

Also, one of the top contestants on this list is Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, the son of the late Chief Minister of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma who integrated the once sought after post with the present one. The BJP women MLAs from Delhi Assembly elections Rekha Gupta, Shikha Rai, Neelam Pehelwan and Poonam Sharma are also on the list for the CM's seat.

Besides these, notable among them is BJP MLA Vijendra Gupta, who has served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, and Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay, who has been the Delhi BJP President and has also served as Vice President of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation.
