Chandigarh: During his routine scrutiny of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and State unit Chief Mohan Lal Bsounds, Anil Vij, the minister of Haryana, received a show cause notice from the BJP party for remarks that they believe contradict the party lines. In that regard, the party had sought an explanation for the statements made by Anil Vij Sr. within 3 days.
As report suggests, “You are accused of making statements publicly which are defamatory towards the party (state) president (Badoli) and the Chief Minister's office which in turn is serious and completely contrary to the policies and discipline of the party.” Hindi is the language in which the notice was issued by Vaid Badoli, the head of Haryana BJP. According to Badoli, the notices were supposed to be served to Vij as per the directions given by other senior leaders of the party.
In addition to the above alleged offense, Vij was reminded by the BJP that, “The move puts into question the internal discipline of the party and it is suspicious coming at the time when the party was actively campaigning in the nearby region, which in this case is Delhi.” The notice further states, “Knowing fully well that if this statement is provided to the public, it would ruin the reputation and the image of the party, you decided to utter the statements while holding a Ministerial position. These allegations simply do not cut it.”
Vij, 71, the seven-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, had been pursuing Saini with a lot of zeal. The Chief Minister, on his part, tried to downplay the situation first by stating that the transport minister was not angry, and as an elder party member, he was well within his rights to express himself.
Vij claimed that “workers” associated with a “friend” of Saini, were also associated with an Independent Candidate who he defeated during the state assembly elections in 2024.
Vij has defeated independent candidate chitra sarwara in the last assembly elections during October, making him the MLA for the seventh time.
On January 31, Vij claimed that he has, and, more than 100 days ago, publicly raised the issue of the official type people who “assisted” in attempting to defeat him in elections but there has been no action taken against any of these people.
Vij had remarked to Saini, claiming, “Until now he (Saini) has been sitting on an ‘udan khatola’ (chopper) and it is time he came down. Once he does come down, he will be able to witness the plight of the people.” He had come out in open defiance against the officials and made it known that if need be he will go on a hunger strike to death like Jagjit Singh Dallewal, for the sake of Ambala Cantt.”
Badoli is known to Vij as one of the leg men in the party and had earlier said in a statement issued after the police inquiry that he should be suspended from the position of party head in the state right from the time he was charged for rape to ensure the “sanctity” of the position until the Himachal Pradesh police cleared the inquiry.”
Last week, six people, including a woman, who had accused Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal of rape were charged with an offense of extortion and criminal intimidation.
