Let us tell you that on August 1, Sheikh Hasina's government had imposed many bans on this organization, calling it a terrorist organization because according to Sheikh Hasina's party, this organization was involved in many terrorist activities. As soon as the ban was lifted, this organization has started running an anti-India agenda. Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman threatened India by saying that his party would not tolerate New Delhi's interference in Bangladesh's affairs.
While lifting the ban on the party, the interim government of Mohammad Yunus said that no evidence of Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliated organizations being involved in terrorist activities has been found. Due to this, this ban is being lifted. As soon as the ban was lifted, the head of this organization has advised India.
Jamaat-e-Islami organization has not been able to contest elections since 2013
Let us tell you that Jamaat-e-Islami has not contested elections in Bangladesh since 2013 because the Bangladesh court had cancelled its registration due to the terrorist activities of this party. Now it has come to light from this party that it will knock on the doors of the Supreme Court to restore its registration.
Why was this party banned?
The government of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had accused the Jamaat-e-Islami party of instigating violence in the student-led reservation protests in Bangladesh. This protest later turned into a rebellion against PM Sheikh Hasina. But the party denied these allegations and said that the party had only supported the students.
