Bangladesh: Another neighbouring country of India has followed the path of Pakistan. Bangladesh's Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman has demanded the removal of the word secular from the country's constitution. Mohammad Asaduzzaman has said that 90 per cent of the country's population is Muslim. Bangladesh's Attorney General has also demanded a change in the designation of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, popularly known as Bangabandhu. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is considered the founder of Bangladesh, is called the 'Father of the Nation' but the new interim government that came to power after the movement does not like this.

Presenting his arguments during the court hearing on the validity of the 15th Amendment before Justices Farah Mehboob and Debashish Roy Chowdhury, the Attorney General said that these changes are necessary. He said that this would connect the Constitution with the democratic and historical ethos of the country.

The Attorney General argued before the court that many existing laws, including calling Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the 'Father of the Nation', divide the nation and restrict freedom of expression. He said it is important to honour Sheikh Mujibur's contribution but implementing it through law creates division.

Let us tell you that Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus was made the advisor of the interim government that came to power after the coup of the Sheikh Hasina government. But now Mohammad Yunus also seems to be taking refuge in fundamentalism. After the removal of Sheikh Hasina from power, many incidents of attack on minority Hindus and their religious establishments have also come to light in Bangladesh.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus took over as interim leader of Bangladesh on 8 August 2024. The Yunus-led government has decided to prosecute Sheikh Hasina and has said it will seek her extradition from India.
