Bhopal News:  The Income Tax Department and police in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh seized 52 kg of gold bars worth Rs 40 crore and cash worth more than Rs 11 crore from an abandoned SUV. News agency PTI quoted an official as saying this. This seizure has been made amid the action being taken by the Income Tax Department in the city for the last few days. The official said that on Thursday night, information was received that a vehicle was standing abandoned on Kushalpura Road and several bags were kept inside it.

 

Innova found on Kushalpura road

Quoting Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Priyanka Shukla, news agency PTI said, "Someone informed the Ratibad police station that an 'Innova Crysta' car was standing unattended on Kushalpura Road for a long time and about seven to eight bags were kept inside the vehicle. After receiving the information, a police team reached the spot." She said that someone might have left these bags full of gold and cash amid the crackdown being carried out by some departments in the city for the last few days.

Income tax department is investigating

The official said, 'We informed the Income Tax Department and they broke the windows of the SUV and seized 52 kg of gold bars and a huge amount of cash from it.' He said that the SUV is registered in the name of Chandan Singh Gaur, a resident of Gwalior, but he has been living in Bhopal for four years. The official said that the Income Tax Department is investigating the matter.

Whose cash and gold?

Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) Satish K. Goyal said that on receiving information about an abandoned car parked in the forest area, the department officials searched the vehicle and recovered 52 kg of gold bars worth Rs 40 crore and cash worth more than Rs 11 crore from it.

He said that the total amount seized is Rs 52 crore. Goyal said, 'It is not clear yet who owns this cash and gold and we are investigating the matter.' Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Umang Singhar alleged that the gold and other things seized in the raid are the result of collusion between politicians and bureaucrats.
