According to US Indo-Pacific Command, the four onboard a contracted plane from the US Defense Department died when it crashed in the southern area of the Philippines last Thursday. One serviceman from the US also perished.

Intelligence gathering, surveillance, as well as reconnaissance support was being provided to the Philippine allies, which is why the crash happened, according to a spokesperson from Indo-Pacific Command.

The moment the aircraft malfunctioned, it was performing a commonplace task that involved assisting in joint US and Philippine military operations.

Military sources in the United States reported that there was a single soldier and three contractors of defense that perished on board the aircraft, however, their names will only be made public once their family has been contacted.

“Unfortunately, the plane crash has no survivors,” the spokesperson added.

While assisting troops against the Islamic State militants that still occupy parts of Mindanao, US forces provided intelligence from short term rotational bases in the Philippines.

The militaries of the Philippines reported that they are not able to disclose information regarding the plane crash for reasons of classification and were restricted until an inquiry is completed.

Ventura said that authorities were still investigating the reason behind the accident involving the airplane which crashed on a farm in the vicinity of the region of Ampatuan.

As the police spokesman clarified, it was essential that police and military assets were deployed to the scene of the incident to prevent the destruction of any possible evidence.

The aircraft N349CA, which took off from the Mather airport, was reportedly a Beechcraft Super King Air B300 belonging to the defunct Metrea, as per the details provided by FlightAware.

Metrea, according to the information provided on their site, is “a foremost supplier of effects-as-a-service to national security customers in multiple mission domains and areas.”

According to Rhea Martin, a rescuing officer from the municipal office, her rescue team has found four deceased people from the said location of the accident.

Rescuer Rhea Martin further stated that, “the victims were recovered from the vicinity of the aircraft,” clarifying that the aircraft “was literally sliced in two pieces.”
