Most Children in the World: 70-year-old Ugandan villager Musa Hasahya Kasera is once again in the news. Musa Karesa has 12 wives, 102 children and 578 grandchildren. He says that it is now becoming difficult to feed the family. He is facing hunger and limited resources. This is proving to be a challenge for the local administration as well.
viral on social media
Hasahya's story was recently shared on social media, where he was described as the 'person who has produced the most children in the world'. The post quickly went viral. One user joked, "Why do you call this a family? Why don't you declare it a district?" While another wrote, "Bhai is having fun." However, Musa Hasahya Kasera's life is quite different from what people think.
Struggle for sustenance
Despite his large family, Hasahya's situation is far from comfortable. He lives in a dilapidated house. The roof is rusting from years of neglect, and the family lives in several thatched mud huts in the nearby area. His two acres of land, once considered sufficient to support his growing family, now provides no more than basic sustenance.
wife's pain
“We are barely able to survive. There is hardly enough food. We have to feed the children once or twice on good days,” said Jabina, Hasahya’s third wife. Many children and grandchildren work for their neighbors or fetch water and wood from long distances. Still, for a family of this size, food supplies are limited, and often, the family faces hunger.
Two wives left the house
Hasahya admits that it was a joke at first… but now it has its own problems. Due to his poor health and the stress of running such a large household, he lost two of his wives, who could not bear the hardship.
He married his first wife in 1972 at the age of 17. Many in the village, attracted by his early status as a cattle trader and butcher, married their daughters to him. This led to a large family. Hasahya's first child, Sandra Nabwire, was born a year after his marriage, but his children now range from 10 to 50 years old.
