
Maharashtra: An unfortunate incident on the Solapur Pune Highway claimed the lives of three and injured 15 others, a tragedy that struck when a container truck collided with a mini-bus. There was speculation that a motorcyclist crossing the road was attempting to avoid a collision which led to the mini-bus being tip over and the container truck being overturned. According to various officials, the injuries sustained by passengers of the bus were life threatening. This tragic event took place on February 9 at around 2:30 PM near Kolegaon Phata.
According to the Solapur Rural police, those that did survive do say that devotees onboard the mini bus were headed towards Pandharpur after a formal blessing in Akkalkot and it provided insight as to why they were so distant to the passenger bus. The police further claimed that as the container truck (NL-01-AA-7205) approached a junction, a motorcycle (MH-13-CN-0335) suddenly came in front and collided. This caused the truck to over turn and go on the wrong side thus colliding with the bus and turning it upside down.
In an attempt to treat the severely injured, all were immediately sent to a private hospital in Solapur. The three unfortunate souls that lost their life were pronounced dead as soon as all were brought in. The driver of the bus was charged with reckless driving and an undescided investigation has commenced.
As per authorities, the deceased are motorcyclist Dayanand Bhosale (35) from Lamboti in Mohol, mini-bus driver Laxman Basu Pawar (40), and an unidentified woman aged between 35 and 40. The injured passengers have been recognized as Komal Anil Jorkar, Bhakti Pandurang Mandhare, Baby Sudhakar Gaikwad, Anita Shankar Barge, Sangeeta Ravindra Shedge, Komal Sachin Mandhare, Reshma Nitin Chaudhary, Sonali Ramesh Adulkar, Sapna Ramesh Mahite, Arjun Arav Khade, Pari Anil Jorkar, Sai Gauss, Prachi Pandurang Mandhare, Chhaya Ratan Shedge, and Rekha Dattatray Chaudhary Mandhare.
