The governor of Mykolaiv, Vitaly Kim, stated on Telegram that the fire in the city was quickly contained, though the extent of the infrastructure damage remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Russia continues its territorial advances, now controlling about 20% of Ukraine, with its forces pushing further eastward.

Zelensky: Russia Needs War to Maintain Power

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of prolonging the war to strengthen its hold on power. In a public statement, he emphasized that Russia’s daily bombardment of Ukraine is proof of its intent to keep fighting.

Zelensky’s Key Claims:

In the past week alone, Russia launched:

  • 1,220 aerial bombs
  • 850+ attack drones
  • 40+ missiles of different types

Ukraine continues to resist due to its brave soldiers and support from allies.

More air defense systems are urgently needed to protect Ukrainian civilians from relentless Russian strikes.

Trump also announced his intention to immediately begin peace talks, adding a new dimension to the ongoing conflict. While Zelensky stressed unity between Ukraine, Europe, and the US, Trump's approach raises questions about the future of Western support and the direction of diplomatic negotiations.
