As a result, the executive order signed on January 18 puts a pause on the enforcement of the bill. This is the order that allowed Tik Tok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance Ltd. the freedom to reach a deal to resolve the national security concerns of the US pertaining to the app.

An executive order Trump signed on January 18 allows ByteDance Ltd. to reach a sensible deal to prevent the app from being banned. ByteDance’s reaction is still awaited. However, it is unclear how the issue will be handled in the near future, especially following the events of January 19. Trump’s order was some circumvention from the reality of the strategy of containment URL legislated by the country’s Congress.

Although last year Trump publicly condemned the congress endorsed bill proclaiming ‘I would want to act first get rid of these foolishness lawmakers bills’, he still proceeded to sign the order, which frankly contradicts some of his claims.

The primary motive for establishing the TikTok ban law is the possibility of the app being used by the Chinese government as a tool for espionage on the American populace or for swaying the opinion of the general public in some way.

Hours after the self-imposed deadline by Donald Trump, the app went live once again on the promise of the former President of making an executive order at some undetermined point to “make a deal.” This resulted in millions of disheartened Americans from using the application.

The Biden government stated a couple of days before that there were no plans in place to impose any ban which allowed Trump to graciously accept to what allowed him direly needed TikTok, which allowed service to once again resume in America.

Hours after the ban was imposed places, Trump has made a call for the application to be saved at all costs, and has made a rather negative remark towards placing his business in the hands of communist China. In the lead up to the inauguration, he ordered that Tik Tok be unbanned as long a certain percentage of ownership of the application is transferred over to America.

Due to a new legislation, TikTok ceased operations in the US on Saturday evening, but Trump did promise on his first day in office that battled it would not be permanent. Consequently, the app opened within a day after the statement from Trump.

The short video app indeed has around 170 million users in the US.

“Let me tell you something. As of today, TikTok is back. You know, I did a little TikTok thing. There is this guy we have, 'Tik Tok Jack.' He's like a 21 year old kid - we hired this kid and I went on Tik Tok. As Republicans, we have never won the youth vote. They won a lot of votes, but the youth vote Roes never. But we won the youth vote by 36 points. So, I like TikTok, Trump stated at one of his Victory rallys in Washington.
