The same PCB official also accused the BCCI of indiscriminately using cricket as a tool for international relations. He even pointed out that, Ex Indias did not want to go to Pakistan and did not allow Rohit Sharma to go to the country for the first celebration of the event. Sharma didn’t go to Pakistan either for the ceremony, just like the Indian government ordered.

India are ready to commence their campaign for the Champions Trophy 2025 against Bangladesh on 20 February 2025. Sinse the 1996 ODI World Cup, this is the first time Pakistan is hosting an ICC tournament. However India is not going to the country due to security risks and will conduct all their fixtures in Dubai. There has been a bit of a standoff between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the tournament fortifying these hybrid arrangements, BCCI seem to have reluctantly agreed to the approach.

It’s BCCI’s turn now to make further policies that will not please the PCB.

Per IANS, in a communiqué, one of the PCB officials has revealed that India are unwilling to have Pakistan’s name on their jerseys which is a standard procedure for all the teams at ICC tournaments. That official also accused the BCCI of making cricket a political issue. He also pointed out that India did not want to go to Pakistan and did not even want Rohit Sharma to go there for the opening ceremony.

“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not, in any way, healthy for the game. They refused to go to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain for the opening ceremony (in Pakistan), now we hear that they don’t want to have the name of the country which is hosting them (Pakistan) on their jerseys. We are of the opinion that the world controlling body of cricket (ICC), will never allow this and will support Pakistan,” said the unnamed PCB official.
