Zomato, the well-known online food and grocery delivery platform, has received approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to change its name to Eternal Limited. The name change is effective from March 20, 2025. The announcement was confirmed through a regulatory filing.

Brand and App Remain the Same

Despite the corporate name change, Zomato confirmed that there would be no changes to the branding of its food delivery business. The Zomato app will retain its current name and interface, ensuring continuity for users.

Structure of Eternal Limited

As per the current structure, Eternal Limited will operate four major businesses:

  • Zomato (Online food delivery)
  • Blinkit (Quick commerce)
  • Hyperpure (B2B supplies to restaurants)
  • District (New initiative)

Shareholders and Board Approved the Change

Earlier this month, Zomato’s shareholders approved a special resolution supporting the name change. Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal had also advocated for this move, stating the corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com, along with a new stock ticker.

Strategic Reason Behind the Renaming

Deepinder Goyal explained that the decision reflects the growing significance of Blinkit within the company’s portfolio. The term "Eternal" has been used internally to represent the broader organization beyond just the Zomato app. Now, with Blinkit playing a major role, the public renaming aligns with the company’s future direction.
