In real life, he was an actor and passed away during the premiere of his movie while watching it. Let's explain what occured with him and the circumstances regarding his death.

I spotted myself on the screen right before I died.

Years prior to the “Superboys of Malegaon” film, a movie titled “Malegaon Ka Superman” was released with Shafiq Sheikh as the leading actor. Shafiq always envisioned himself featuring in movies alongside stars like Amitabh Bachchan, with dreams of seeing his name in the credits on a big screen. Renowned director Anurag Kashyap met him during the premiere of his last and first movie. While he was taking his final breaths, he recalled looking at a screen which had himself on it just moments before passing.

This is how death happened.

Shafiq died due to him suffering from cancer at the age of 28. The premiere for Supermann k Malegaon ended around 12p, with him passing at 2. The film was premiered in Malegaon, and in his final moments, Shafiq lay in bed with loved ones watching the film. It’s tragic to think that while Shafiq passed away because of excessive Gutkha cancer, his film, “Superman of Malegaon” aimed to stop the consumption of it.

He urged the youngsters of Malegaon to stop using gutkha and around three hundred youth quit using gutkha. The movie ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ was released on 28 February, 2013. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti and directed by Reema Kagti.

The movie has now been made

We would like to remind you that Malegaon Ka Superman was directed by Nasir Sheikh. He produced Malegaon Ke Sholay as well. With limited funds, he was able to make both these films. These two films are now being blended to be presented in a novel format in ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ on the big screen. The tale revolves around a young town where a handful of boys aspires to be actors and film directors. The plot is based on their journey while filming their first movie.
