The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is set to increase the compensation rate for agricultural land acquired for industrial and urban development projects. The proposed hike would raise the rate from ₹3,400 to ₹4,300 per square meter, aligning it with the compensation provided for land acquired under the Noida Airport Project’s Phase 3 and 4. The proposal is expected to be tabled and approved during YEIDA’s upcoming board meeting on March 28, as per a report by the Hindustan Times.

The move follows protests from farmers who objected to the exclusion of agricultural land from the revised compensation structure introduced in December 2024. That revision had increased land rates for the airport project but retained the older ₹3,400 per square meter rate for other development areas, even though this itself was an increase from ₹2,650 implemented in October 2022.

YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh stated that the authority intends to offer ₹4,300 per square meter to all farmers affected by land acquisition for industrial and urbanization purposes, not just those connected to the airport project. He emphasized that farmers involved in non-airport development zones will receive equal compensation to maintain fairness.

Local farmer Mukesh Bhati from Mirzapur village welcomed the decision, stating that such a step is necessary to ensure farmers willingly support ongoing development projects. He also warned that without a rate revision, farmers would be unwilling to part with their land for future projects.
