As a result, Gujarat has made a significant jump in the points table, while RCB has suffered a setback. Gujarat Giants Secure a Massive 81-Run Win
Gujarat Giants registered a commanding 81-run victory against UP Warriorz. In T20 cricket, such a big margin of defeat is rare. Gujarat Giants, batting first, scored 186 runs for the loss of just 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This set a target of 187 runs for UP Warriorz. However, UP's batting lineup crumbled quickly, losing two wickets early, and the collapse continued till the end of their innings.
Beth Mooney’s Stunning 96-Run Knock
Gujarat Giants' opener, Beth Mooney, played an outstanding innings, remaining unbeaten with 96 runs off 59 balls. She smashed 17 fours in her innings but narrowly missed out on a century due to a lack of strike in the final overs. Harleen Deol also made a valuable contribution, scoring 45 runs off 32 balls. However, the rest of the batters couldn't contribute significantly.
Gujarat Giants Make a Huge Jump in the Points Table
Before this match, Gujarat Giants were at the bottom of the points table. However, after this dominant win, they have leaped to the second position. Their net run rate (NRR) has also improved significantly. Initially, Gujarat had a negative NRR of -0.450, but after this match, it has improved to +0.357.
On the other hand, UP Warriorz have faced a major setback. They were in third place before this match but have now dropped to fifth. Meanwhile, RCB has also been affected by Gujarat’s victory, as they have now slipped to fourth place.
Delhi Capitals Maintain Their Lead
Delhi Capitals remain at the top of the WPL 2025 points table. They have played seven matches, winning five, and currently hold 10 points. Mumbai Indians are also in contention, having won three out of five matches and accumulating six points, placing them third in the standings.
Delhi Capitals are now in a strong position for the playoffs, and their qualification seems almost certain. The focus now shifts to the remaining league matches to determine the final standings and which other teams will make it to the playoffs.
