Washington: On Thursday, the Trump administration announced its plan to cut U.S. staffing for aid project work globally by triaging aides as a part of its plan to dismantle the U.S. Agency For International Development. This plan seems to be getting rid of thousands of workers, and retaining only 300.

“I spoke with the Associated Press”, said two aides for USAID and one non-active higher official from USAID. They confided that they were privy to information about the presentation made to the upper management on Thursday which consequently got leaked. They also requested not to be named because of the orders issued by the Trump administration that prevents USAID employees from speaking to anyone external to the agency.

The restructuring plan will reduce the number of staff members actively working from 8,000 direct hires to less than 300. The remainder would include staff members from the locally-hired international staff pool of 5,000. These employees will do their best to manage the few critical programs that provide assistance. These are the only programs that the administration is willing to support at the moment.

The permanency of the plan is questionable and is up to the discretion of the Trump administration. According to them, the decision will be made after reviewing the aid and development programs they intend to support. This translates to assuming workers can be allowed to use any resources that trump administrators claim to procure.

Marco Rubio, during his visit to the Dominican Republic confirmed that the enabling aid will remain available to international countries.

“It will be foreign aid that is practical and promotes the greater good for the country,” he said to the press.

The administration of President Donald Trump and his billionaire friend Elon Musk, who is overseeing a highly publicized shredding of government spending through the newly created Department Of Government Efficiency, has placed USAID under a crucible the fastest in an unparalleled attack on federal government and its many components.

As of January 20, 2020, most of the agency’s programs around the world have been frozen along with allocating the majority of the staff on administrative leave. Everything after the former president’s talk is rather alarming. Musk and Trump allegedly talking over the scrapping of USAID as an independent agency placing the remaining programs under the admirable State department’s control.

Other lawmakers from congress and Democratic supporters are saying it is blockheaded and write that these schemes appear to lack legal authority terms without the subpoena of Congress.
