Beijing: China's female tennis player has created a stir in the sports world by making the biggest comeback in the sport. Chinese star Zhang Shuai finally tasted victory on Friday after losing 24 consecutive matches. World number 595 Shuai won the China Open and entered the third round.
Zhang Shuai's victory is being discussed a lot because she got this victory after 19 months. During the last 19 months, she had lost 24 consecutive matches. But in the Beijing WTA 1000 tennis tournament, she defeated the US Open finalist.
This Chinese female player defeated world number 8 Emma Navarro of America 6-4, 6-2. This is Shuai's first win since January 2023. Shuai is a two-time women's doubles champion. She has won the Australian Open in 2019 and the US Open in 2021. She won both these titles with Samantha Stosur.
