Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was hospitalized after suffering chest pain during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match on Monday. Tamim, currently captaining Mohammedan Sporting Club, felt discomfort immediately after the toss in a match against Shinepukur Cricket Club and was urgently rushed to Fazilatunnesa Hospital.

Doctors Confirm Heart Blockage and Perform Angioplasty

Doctors treating Tamim later confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack, identifying a blockage in his heart. According to an official medical bulletin:

“Tamim arrived in critical condition. We can confirm it was a heart attack. He underwent an angiogram and angioplasty to remove the blockage. He is currently under continuous observation.”

Initial plans to move him to another facility via air ambulance were canceled due to his unstable condition.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Cancels Meeting Amid Emergency

In response to the medical emergency, an important meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was canceled. BCB President Farooq Ahmed, along with other board members, is currently at the hospital with Tamim.

Tamim Iqbal: A Record-Breaking Career

Tamim Iqbal is one of Bangladesh’s most prolific batters, having played in all three formats of international cricket. His statistics include:
